Princess Charlotte was just as happy as the rest of the world to see her mom, Princess Kate, out and about at Wimbledon.
For Kate’s second official appearance this year, the royal made her way to the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club to watch the men’s singles finals match at Wimbledon.
The outing was a triumphant comeback for the princess, who is in the midst of treatment for cancer. As she entered the stadium, she was met with thunderous applause and a standing ovation.
She revealed she is in the “early stages” of this treatment
Accompanying Kate were her nine-year-old daughter, Princess Charlotte, and younger sister, Pippa Middleton. As the three made their way to their seats in the royal box, photographers captured Charlotte’s heartwarming reaction to Kate’s standing ovation. The little royal was seen brightly grinning up at her mother as Kate smiled and waved to the spectators.

Karwai Tang, one of the photographers who caught the momentous scene on camera, talked to People about the special moment.
“When [Kate] usually comes in, she walks down the steps and into her seat. She doesn’t normally stand and wave. But she stood for a while and took it all in. For her to acknowledge it and take in the applause was special,” Tang explained. “She seemed to look no different from the last Wimbledon. It felt like she is back. … For them to cheer and clap when they came in was a great support for her. Wimbledon had been waiting with bated breath for her to return, and she was back.”
As for Charlotte’s surprise Wimbledon cameo, Tang added, “[Charlotte] skipped down the stairs and when she got back to her seat—she was laughing. She leaned over and must have told her mom what it was about, and they were giggling together and having a good old laugh.”
