Princess Kate shared Prince Louis’s birthday photo over at Instagram, and the post has gone viral with 888,787 likes and 16,134 comments since yesterday.
Prince Louis just celebrated a milestone birthday, turning six, and the photo speaks volumes, says body language expert Judi James.
“Little Louis,” as Ms James calls him, “has been entertaining the nation with his playful and spontaneous behaviour and body language,” but in his birthday photo, taken by mum Princess Kate, there’s a “calmness” abut him, and it appears to be influenced by Prince William, says Ms James.
She says: “We can see a very gentle and caring facial expression emerging as he shares a calmer-looking moment with his mother behind the camera.”
“There is a hint of his father’s calmer nature creeping in, with his arms folded comfortable in front of him and the sweet head-tilt that fits so well with his symmetric mouth-smile.”
In the photo, Louis is seen laying flat on his stomach, with his legs kicked up behind him, smiling back at his mother, who is presumably also laying on her stomach, to get that straight on shot, says Ms James.

“There are still the reassuring signals of childhood here, from the favourite check shirt and those strands of hair that defy any flattening but six years can feel like a milestone for children who are socialising at school and gaining in confidence and empathy,” says Ms James.
It’s the grin that says it all, and he’s smiling ear-to-ear at his mother, with James saying of the moment: “Louis’s expression suggests he’s so much in touch with his mother here though, who presumably would be lying in a similar, mirrored pose on the blanket to get the face-to-face shot.”
