Meghan Markle and Prince Harry suffered an “awkward” moment on camera – now, a royal expert claims it’s not the Duchess’s fault.
At a Sentebale event in Miami on Friday, Meghan presented Harry with an award before posing with the Duke and others for a photo shoot. In addition, the whole thing was captured by the couple’s Netflix cameras for an upcoming show.
However, footage emerged appearing to show Meghan asking a woman to move away from Harry so she could stand next to her husband in a move branded “awkward and cringeworthy” on social media.
But royal expert Rupert Bell says it’s not all the Duchess’s fault. Speaking to fellow royal expert Kinsey Schofield on Talk TV, he said: “Meghan coming up and presenting the trophy, that’s nothing unusual… let’s not over-analyse that ‘why’s she hogging the limelight’ – it’s perfectly normal.”

He added: “They needed to find no reason to be an excuse to criticise Meghan for saying ‘that woman should have gone straight to there’ rather than going to the other side with that sort of confused look of ‘what are we doing here?’ That wasn’t planned, so actually it was probably the PR people in the wings.”
Bell argued that the PR team failed to “ensure that we didn’t have [it looking] like Meghan was trying to control the situation. I don’t know whether she did or didn’t but that’s what they need to make sure doesn’t happen again.
