Meghan Markle ‘won’t bring kids to UK’ despite King’s plea

Meghan Markle ‘won’t bring Archie and Lilibet to UK’ despite King’s desperate plea, expert says

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have spent very little time in the UK and it seems they’re unlikely to reunite with the Royal Family soon, despite King Charles’ ‘olive branch’

King Charles is believed to be “desperate” to see his grandchildren, but one expert believes Meghan Markle isn’t willing to bring them to the UK.

Meghan and her husband Prince Harry have a strained relationship with the Royal Family, and their two young children – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – have spent very little time in the UK. In the hopes of mending fractured relationships, it’s believed the monarch has made a special plea to the Sussexes.

The King has reportedly invited Meghan and Harry to spend the summer at Balmoral, but royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths doesn’t think Meghan will accept the invite. She said: “Even if Harry comes, I can’t imagine a world in which Meghan comes over with the kids, it’s really sad.”

During an appearance on TalkTV, Charlotte suggested there is “no way” Meghan will be interested in going to Balmoral. She explained: “[Meghan] was never really very enamoured with the rural royal life and the sort of cold two bar radiators and the boot rooms.

“I mean can you imagine Meghan stalking in the highlands all summer? I can’t really to be honest.” Her comments come after it was reported King Charles is hoping to see his grandchildren.

“I can see Charles desperately wanting to see the children, and extending this olive branch to Meghan and Harry. He may decide that life is just too short. Balmoral is truly the perfect, restful place for a reunion. If he does issue an invite, then Harry and Meghan should surely agree to the visit,” an insider told Page Six.

Harry and Meghan stepped down from the Royal Family in 2020 before settling in Montecito, California. Since stepping down as senior working royals, the couple have only returned to the UK for select events.

Archie and Lilibet have made the trip just once – for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. Meghan hasn’t returned to the UK since the Queen’s funeral in September 2022. She decided to skip King Charles’ Coronation in May 2023, meaning Harry had to attend alone.

While a holiday to Balmoral might be off the cards, it’s believed the Duke of Sussex will return to the UK next month to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. Harry is scheduled to speak at a special service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 8.
