King Charles III reportedly has one regret when it comes to how he parented Prince William and Prince Harry.
“Prince Harry and King Charles were very, very close,” royal expert Ingrid Seward told Fox News Digital. “They got on incredibly well. I think Charles probably regrets that he wasn’t strict with Harry and [Prince] William.”
The author of “My Mother and I” alleged that Charles’ late ex-wife, Princess Diana, had a “freestyle of bringing up with children” which he went along with until her untimely death in 1997.
“Diana allowed them to do, more or less, what they wanted, which was very fashionable in those days,” Seward said. “You let children just get on with things. I think Charles probably regrets that he wasn’t a bit stricter, because it might’ve given both boys a few more boundaries.”
She added, “Children all need boundaries, and I don’t think they had too many.”
While Harry and Charles’ relationship remains estranged after the redheaded royal and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down as senior members of the royal family in 2020, Harry did fly to London to visit with his father in February when Charles announced his cancer diagnosis.
“Look, I love my family,” Harry, 39, told “Good Morning America” at the time. “The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.”
When asked if his father’s diagnosis could have a “reunifying effect” on his family, Harry said, “Absolutely. Yeah, I’m sure.” However, when questioned about “his outlook” on Charles’ health, Harry said that information “stays between me and him.”
Charles and William remain close, but the Prince of Wales did not accompany his father to an Easter Sunday church service as his wife, Kate Middleton, continues to rest from undergoing chemotherapy due to her own cancer diagnosis.
Instead, Charles and his wife, Queen Camilla, spent the holiday with disgraced ex-royal Prince Andrew, his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, as well as Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
