However, this doesn’t prevent the occasional daily mishap. In fact, it was Prince William himself who shared a story about a gift that turned out to be a bit of a misfire. He recounted this incident during a podcast with former English striker Peter Crouch, broadcast on BBC’s Radio Five Live, on the occasion of the princess’s birthday.

Although the princess is used to stunning gifts, like Cartier hoop earrings for her 30th birthday and amethyst and diamond earrings for Princess Charlotte’s birth, the Prince of Wales was unsure of his choice this time. Years later, the father of George, Charlotte, and Louis admitted he had “no idea” why he had bought that particular gift.

“I once bought my wife a pair of binoculars, and she has never let me forget it,” he confessed. “It was early in our relationship, and I think that sealed the deal. It did not go well. Honestly, I have no idea why I bought her binoculars. It seemed like a good idea at the time.” Luckily, Prince William has since made up for it, but one thing is certain—his wife will always remember this odd gift.

This story proves that Prince values human nature in that anyone can make mistakes, including him. Even though the Princess of Wales will always remember that gift, she doesn’t hold it against her husband.
In 2019, for his 37th birthday, Kate made a beautiful surprise for her husband. She created an album filled with family photos and memories, including paintings, drawings, and collages made by their children.
She kept the gift at her sister Pippa’s house to ensure that Prince William wouldn’t stumble upon it and spoil the surprise before the big reveal.
