Kate Middleton’s key role in ‘olive branch’ move between William and Harry

The Princess of Wales tried to initiate a reconciliation between warring brothers Prince William and Prince Harry as she encouraged them into ‘hanging out’

Kate Middleton worked hard “behind the scenes” to try and broker peace between warring siblings Prince William and Prince Harry.

Back in May 2019 Kate was keen to try to smooth things over between Harry and William acting as the instigator in a visit to Frogmore Cottage alongside her husband to hang out with Harry and Meghan in their new home. The visit was her way of extending an “olive branch” between the brothers.

Reports at the time claimed that Kate had openly urged Harry to extend the invitation to William as she had become “acutely aware of the importance of William and Harry getting along, not just because of perception but their collective responsibility to the monarchy as a whole.” She was trying to heal the growing rift between Harry and his family.

However, her efforts appeared to fail with things continually growing more difficult between the varying family members. It has been reported that Kate never stopped making the effort to try to get William and Harry on better terms. Earlier this year it was claimed that Kate had reportedly been inspired by reading Princess Diana’s diaries and seeing how close the siblings used to be to attempt to get the brothers to reconcile their relationship. A source close to Kate told Star magazine how she has been working hard behind the scenes to try and make William, 41, and Harry, 38, see eye to eye.

The source said: “It bothers Kate that William and Harry are still estranged so she’s taking matters into her own hands. She feels their feud has gone on long enough and that it’s time for William and Harry to be brothers again. She believes there’s still time to repair the damage and has been quietly pushing for a truce.”

However, the source has claimed that Kate’s olive branch doesn’t extend to Meghan, citing: “Kate feels Meghan was the catalyst of all the bad blood between William and Harry. They never warmed to Meghan. They found her obtrusive and forward.” The insider also claimed that Diana has been an inspiration for Kate in her quest adding that “Diana was a very expressive writer and her diaries became a source of comfort as her marriage fell apart. Kate has read them and they have provided valuable insight into what William and Harry’s relationship was like when they were young.”
