Kate Middleton has said she is ‘very sorry’ she is unable to appear at an event today as she continues her recovery following cancer treatment.
The Princess of Wales revealed earlier this year that she was undergoing treatment for cancer. She has been unable to perform public duties as she continues to recover at home.
Today, the Colonel’s Review will be taking place in London, the final dress rehearsal ahead of Trooping the Colour that is taking place on June 15 to celebrate the official birthday of the monarch.
And in a letter issued today, Kate, who is colonel of the Irish Guards, said she was sorry to miss the event and wanted to show her support.

The letter said: “I wanted to write and let you know how proud I am of the entire regiment ahead of the Colonel’s Review and Trooping the Colour. I appreciate everyone trooping this year has been practising for months and dedicating many hours to ensuring their uniforms and drill are immaculate.
“Being your Colonel remains a great honour and I am very sorry that I’m unable to take the salute at this year’s Colonel’s Review. Please pass my apologies to the whole regiment, however I do hope that I am able to represent you all once again very soon.”
The Irish Guards posted a video to X, formerly Twitter, showing the letter being read out to troops. Her words received a round of applause from the Guards at the conclusion of the letter.
The princess is continuing her recovery at home following treatment for cancer.
