Kate Middleton and Prince William appear in touching new video released by Kensington Palace

Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, featured in a poignant Kensington Palace video to commemorate Armed Forces Day on Saturday.

The royal couple, who married in April 2011, have worked tirelessly over the past year to support the armed forces. And the video showcased all of their efforts, including some touching snippets of the pair together.

In the footage, William, 42, can be seen greeting veterans ahead of the D-Day 80th anniversary, which took place earlier in June. It concludes with a shot of the iconic Red Arrows squad, flying in formation.

Kensington Palace posted the 40-second video clip was posted on their official social media accounts with the caption: “On ArmedForcesDay we thank all those serving in our military, in the UK and around the world, and the loved ones who support them in everything they do for our country.”

One particular highlight sees William wearing camouflage military gear in November on a visit to The Mercian Regiment, shortly after he was appointed colonel-in-chief by his father, King Charles.

There was also an emotional clip of Kate visiting the Royal Navy Air Station in Yeovilton in September last year.

While the video may not be new, the montage clearly struck a chord with fans of the monarchs, who described it as a “beautiful tribute” while Kate, 42, is undergoing treatment from cancer.

Queen Camilla’s special message

Other gestures taken by the royals to mark Armed Forces Day included a new photo of King Charles being released.

The portrait was taken by photographer Hugo Burnand in Windsor Castle’s Grand Corridor in November last year and features him wearing his special ceremonial coat complete with medals, sword and decorations.

In another excerpt, Queen Consort Camilla thanked the military for how they “support and strengthen our nation”. The Queen Consort paid a special tribute to veterans, serving members of the Armed Forces and their families, as well as paying tribute to the military for “everything you do to protect this country of ours”.

Her message was filmed in the Clarence House Morning Room and produced by the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS).
