How Prince William Is Doing Behind the Scenes as Kate Middleton Shares Health Update

Prince William is there for Kate Middleton amid her latest health update.

The Princess of Wales, 42, shared on June 14 that she is “making good progress” as she undergoes chemotherapy following her cancer diagnosis. The message marks Princess Kate’s first official statement about her health since she announced in March that she was diagnosed with cancer, and Prince William continues to support his wife.

“The Prince is pleased to see The Princess starting to engage with the work and projects that are important to her,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson says. “He will continue to focus his time on supporting his wife and children while continuing to undertake his public duties.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales are parents to Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, and Princess Kate referred to her husband and family in her latest personal letter, which was released with a new picture of her in Windsor.

“I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times,” the royal began the address.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days, you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well,” she said.

“On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home,” Kate continued.

Sharing her plans to attend Trooping the Colour, the British Army’s festivities for King Charles’ official birthday this weekend, the Princess of Wales said, “I’m looking forward to attending the King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.”

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal,” Princess Kate said, thanking well-wishers for “your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.”

Prince William, 41, resumed public-facing royal duties in mid-April after taking a few weeks off after his wife announced on March 22 that she was diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy. Princess Kate has maintained a low profile in the months since, and her husband recently gave a brief update to a veteran at an anniversary service commemorating the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings.

As seen in a clip circulating on social media, the veteran asked the heir to the throne if his wife was “getting any better.”
