Harry’s grievances ‘pathetic’ in face of Kate’s ‘very real’ problem

Prince Harry is due to visit the UK this week and looks set to reunite with his father King Charles – but no meet-up appears to be on the cards with his estranged brother Prince William and his wife the Princess of Wales

Prince Harry’s grievances against his royal relatives seem “pathetic” in comparison to the Princess of Waleses’ “very real” cancer news, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex is due to be in the UK this week and is set to attend a service at St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday to mark 10 years of his Invictus Games for sick and injured servicemen and women. He looks set to meet up with his father King Charles, with the pair both scheduled to be in London together on Wednesday.

However, it appears there will be no reunion between feuding brothers Harry and Prince William as their relationship continues to be frosty. A source said: “Their relationship remains extremely fractured. Harry has privately expressed a wish to sit down with his brother but now is not the time.”

And reflecting on the brothers’ seemingly ongoing rift following William’s wife Kate revealing her cancer diagnosis, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!: “As regards to William, that does appear to be a terminally damaged relationship. In a way, it seems the boot is now very much on the other foot. Previously it was Harry who was the ‘victim’ looking for an apology for all his perceived grievances.

“Now those grievances must seem utterly trivial, even to Harry, in the face of a very real problem: cancer. Catherine and William are involved in a frightening fight and I don’t think they have the will or the strength to confront someone, even a brother, who picked a fight over issues that seem pathetic by comparison.”

Harry is expected to be in the UK until Thursday when he will meet up with wife Meghan Markle in Nigeria, where the couple are invited to take part in cultural activities. They are expected to meet military staff during the trip, which is linked to the Invictus Games. It is their first trip to the African nation, which holds a special place in Meghan’s heart having revealed last year she is “43 per cent Nigerian”.

However, while in London, the signs point towards Harry meeting up with his father. A source said: “Harry has kept in regular contact with his father on several occasions and made no secret of his desire to see him when he can. He has been especially concerned about him and hopes the King will be well and able to see him as planned.” Royal sources insisted that despite having a busy diary next week, Charles intends to see his estranged son.

It will be Harry’s second time in Britain this year, after February’s trip to see his dad a day after it was announced Charles had cancer. Harry managed to see his father for just 30 minutes at Clarence House. It marked a healing step in their relationship that was dented after Harry and Meghan quit royal life in 2020 and moved to the US.

Aides said the King’s movements are dependent on how he is feeling on any day. Harry’s contact with his dad has “remained positive”, a source revealed. The Duke has sent messages of support during his cancer battle. In a recent US TV interview, Harry said he hoped the King’s diagnosis can have a “reunifying effect” on the family.
