Charlotte’s sassy response when an aide tried to help her with a gift

Princess Charlotte’s self-assured confidence was evident back in 2019 when she was just five-years-old. The little royal took a liking to a gift given to her by a fan and refused to give it up

Princess Charlotte has been described as ‘the one in charge’ by her mum Princess Kate. And it’s clear that the little girl has grown in confidence in recent years, charming the public on royal outings and even managing to keep her two brothers in line.

Her self-assurance and independence was most evident back in 2019 when she attended the annual Christmas Day service with her family.

Charlotte, who was only four at the time, joined mum Kate after the service as they spoke to wellwishers outside the church. The little Princess was presented with a bunch of white roses by one fan – and she clearly took a liking to them.

Aides usually take charge of bouquets so members of the royal family can keep their hands free and talk to other well-wishers. But, when an aide offered to carry Charlotte’s flowers, she firmly shook her head and refused to let them go.

She continued to clutch the bunch as she walked back to Sandringham House with the rest of the royals. Royal expert Katie Nicholl previously told the Mirror: “Charlotte is the most buoyant and outgoing of the three Cambridge children. It’s that strength of character that will stand her in good stead when she’s older.”

The late Queen previously remarked on her great-granddaughter’s sweet personality back in 2018. At the time, she was presenting a book to ten-year-old school student, Emily Clay.

Per Town & Country, when the Queen asked the student if she looked after her younger sister, Emily’s mother replied, “It’s the other way around,” to which the monarch responded, “It’s like that with Charlotte and George”.

Charlotte is also very protective of her younger sibling, little Prince Louis. In a photo released by William and Kate for Charlotte’s third birthday, she was seen cradling baby Louis in her lap and placing a sweet kiss on her sleeping brother’s head .

The young princess also doted on her baby brother in pictures from Louis’ christening in 2018. While everyone else looks at the camera and smiles, proud big sister Charlotte is focused only on Louis as she lovingly looks at him and holds his hand.

And Louis clearly looks up to his sister. In 2021, Prince William revealed that the family of five loves to play music in the morning and the kids dance around the house.

“Charlotte, particularly, is running around the kitchen in her dresses and ballet stuff and everything,” the proud dad said. “She goes completely crazy with Louis following her around trying to do the same thing.”
