Charles’ amazing response after Maya Jama boldly breaks royal protocol

Maya Jama found herself apologising after she reminded King Charles about the time she broke royal protocol when previously talking to him at a Princes’ Trust event.

The Love Island host, 29, mingled with the King, 75, once again on Wednesday and told him that she ‘wasn’t supposed to do that’ but the royal’s response appeared to take her by surprise.

Attending the Sovereight’s Creative Industries Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, Maya and the King chatted on the lawn as the royals threw a garden party for stars from the world of entertainment.

While there are no obligatory codes of behaviour when meeting a member of the Royal Family, many people wish to observe the traditional forms that include not initiating touching unless the royal gives you their arm.

According to reports, Maya, who looked sensational in an off-the-shoulder blue dress with a matching hat, said: “Nice to meet you. Well, I’ve actually met you before, a long time ago. About something with the Princes’ Trust and I touched you. I wasn’t supposed to. This time I won’t.”

But the King gave a playful response as he replied, laughing: “Don’t worry about it,” to which Maya added: “You don’t mind, yeah?” As well as discussing past meetings, the pair also spoke about whether King Charles had seen the dating show Love Island and what it entailed.

Maya told the royal: “I host Love Island. I don’t know if you watch that though. That’s like a reality dating show. That’s what I do.” The King commented: “There’s one born every minute” to which the TV star added: “There is yeah.”

When asked about her future plans, Maya told the King: “I’m just about to go to Spain to film some young people snog someone,” promising a new lineup of singles eager for romance in the well-known villa, reports the Mirror.

The new series of the iconic show is just weeks away – and the firstreported contestant has been revealed. Meanwhile, other celebrities in attendance at the garden party included Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly, her husband Vernon Kay, model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and her beau Jason Statham, Capital FM’s Roman Kemp, dance icon Dame Arlene Phillips, filmmaker Louis Theroux, and artist Tracey Emin.

Approximately 4,000 representatives from the world of culture, art, heritage, film, TV, radio and fashion were in attendance. Charles, who is continuing his return to public duties following his cancer diagnosis, wore a grey suit, pink waistcoat and top hat. He smiled to the gathered crowd as he entered the garden from the palace.

The royal couple stood at the top of the garden steps to observe the national anthem before the crowd applauded. This week he also unveiled the first completed official portrait of himself since the coronation, which includes one detail that was added at his suggestion.
