Kate Middleton’s heart-breaking way of keeping in touch with her children when she’s away from home for cancer treatment

Amid Kate Middleton’s recent cancer diagnosis and subsequent stay at the London Clinic, it was undoubtedly a challenging period for her children – Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five.

To stay connected, the 41-year-old princess frequently used FaceTime to communicate with her children, especially while Prince William was looking after them at Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Estate.

“Kate loves FaceTiming the children when she is working away overseas so I’m sure they will be in regular contact while she’s in the hospital, and the kids will be keen to see her as soon as she’s well enough,” HELLO!’s Royal Editor Emily Nash said.

“She loves having her family around her. Both William and Kate are very hands-on parents – they take the kids to school, attend sports matches and concerts, and try to be home for bedtime as much as they can. While Kate is in hospital, William will be at home keeping things as normal as possible.”

The move to Windsor

The young royals are held to high standards, but Middleton and Prince William have always aimed to provide their children with as normal a childhood as possible. In 2023, they moved from London to Windsor, seeking a less urban environment for their family.

The relocation to Windsor meant moving from the spacious Kensington Palace to the smaller Adelaide Cottage.

“They thought about moving to [their home in] Norfolk, but as active senior working royals, they could never be that far away from London, so that’s where Windsor came into the picture. They want to give their kids as normal a life as possible,” Royal Editor Omid Scobie told Yahoo!.
