Princess Charlotte’s adorable bedtime routine with proud dad Prince William

William and Kate are very hands-on when it comes to their three children – and proud dad William previously shared an insight into the family’s sweet bedtime routine

It’s no secret that Prince William and Kate are determined to give their children as normal an upbringing as possible – and that includes their bedtimes.

Like most parents, the couple rely on maintaining a routine when it comes to lights out, supported by their Norland nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo.

She joined the family back in 2014 when Prince George was eight months old. And ten years on, Maria is still working for William and Kate, helping them take care of all three of their children.

That’s not to say that the royal parents are incredibly hands on. Maria no longer lives with the family ensuring a more ‘normal’ home environment for George, Charlotte and Louis. According to Roya Nikkhah, Royal Editor for The Sunday Times, “after school, it is just the five of them at home”.

And whenever possible, William and Kate will arrange their royal commitments so that they can still do the school run and be home every night to read stories to George, Charlotte, and Louis. Dad William gave an insight into their sweet bedtime routine back in 2020 when the couple paid a visit to Mumbles in Wales.

After being served a scoop of chocolate ice cream in Joe’s Ice Cream Parlour, William spotted a child reading the classic children’s book Room on The Broom by Julia Donaldson, according to The Times.

Speaking to the managing director of Joe’s, Adrian Hughes, William confessed: “I read this to our children all the time.” The Prince then recalled how he had met the best-selling children’s author when she was given a CBE in 2018 for her services to literature.

“I said, ‘Do you realise how many parents you have saved at bedtime?'” William added. Kate, meanwhile, has previously given an insight into the Wales family’s morning routine.

During a visit to Stockwell Gardens Nursery and Pre-school in London in January 2020, she served breakfast to children and spoke of her kids’ own meal preferences. School manager Michelle Samuels told today.com: “She mentioned to three of the children that her own children enjoy apples and cereal in the morning, which sparked a conversation with the children about their own preference of fruits.”

Prince William, meanwhile, has revealed that their start to the day has an ever-changing musical soundtrack. “Most mornings there’s a massive fight between Charlotte and George as to what song is played… And I have to, now, basically prioritise that one day someone does this one, and another day it’s someone else’s turn. So George gets his go, then Charlotte gets her go.”
