Taylor Swift and Prince William have been friends for over a decade and the Royal even attended the first night of her Eras Tour at Wembley Arena with his children

Taylor Swift lit up Wembley Arena with her presence, charming none other than Prince William and his kids on the opening night of her London gig.

The ‘Love Story’ songstress had a star-studded audience that included her beau Travis Kelce and friend Cara Delevingne. It seems the Royal brood are big-time Swifties, as William brought along little George and Charlotte to catch Taylor’s Friday night show.

The 34-year-old pop icon took to Instagram to share a birthday selfie with the Prince, his children, and Travis, captioning it: “Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start,” topped off with a mix of American and British flag emojis.

Royal fans got an extra treat when they caught Prince William grooving to ‘Shake It Off’ in the crowd. This isn’t the first Royal encounter for Taylor; she famously hit the stage with Prince William and Jon Bon Jovi back in November 2013 at a charity event, where they belted out ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’ and William playfully strummed the air guitar.

Their impromptu jam session happened at the Winter Whites Gala at Kensington Palace, leaving guests absolutely thrilled. During her speech, Taylor introduced herself saying: “I’m Taylor, it is very nice to meet you, especially under these circumstances.”

“It is my first time playing at Kensington Palace or any other palace for that matter. I have to thank you, Prince William, for having me. It’s amazing. To call attention to this age group especially, teens and young adults.”

Taylor subsequently joked about her encounter with the Prince, sharing: “He was very funny. I was really happy he was funny. Throughout the event, Taylor and Prince William maintained a warm rapport, sharing jokes and laughter. Recounting the experience in 2021, the Duke of Cambridge proclaimed that he behaved ‘like a puppy’ when Swift persuaded him to join her and Jon Bon Jovi on stage.

In a moment of genuine surprise and delight, Prince William revealed that the presence of both Taylor and Bon Jovi ‘nearly knocked him off his feet’. “Little did I think what was going to happen next,” the Royal reminisced as he thought back on the after-glow of greeting everyone. “I’m sat next to Taylor Swift. She’s on my left and after Jon does his first song, there’s a pause and she turns to me.”

In a heartbeat, Swift extended her hand onto his arm, piercingly met his gaze, and urged, ‘Come on, William. Let’s go and sing’. The Prince admitted his perplexed response: “She puts her hand on my arm, looks me in the eye and says, ‘Come on, William. Let’s go and sing.’ To this day, I still do not know what came over me. Honestly, even now I’m cringing at what happened next, and I don’t understand why I gave in.

“But, frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm and says, ‘Come with me…’ I got up like a puppy and went, ‘Yeah, OK, that seems like a great idea. I’ll follow you’.”
