After months of speculation and wild conspiracy theories about her health, Kate Middleton shared in March that she had been diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer.
She revealed at the time that she had undergone ‘major abdominal surgery’ in January and tests afterward found that cancer was present and she started a preventative course of chemotherapy.
However, the Princess of Wales hasn’t shared any more details about her condition or what type of cancer she has – and there’s a reason behind it.
There has been much speculation among royal fans about her specific diagnosis and the fact that she had abdominal surgery could point to a number of common cancers in the abdominal area including; stomach cancer, bowel cancer, kidney cancer, or ovarian cancer.
However, Kensington Palace has said they will not be sharing any more details and in fact, in a statement, the palace emphasised Kate’s ‘right to medical privacy’.
A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: ‘We will not be sharing any further private medical information. The Princess has a right to medical privacy as we all do.’
This comes after Kensington Palace shut down rumours that Kate was receiving cancer treatment in MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, after locals claimed she was staying in a nearby hotel in a discussion thread on Reddit.
A Palace spokesperson confirmed to the local paper, the Houston Chronicle that the rumours were false and that Kate wasn’t in Texas receiving treatment.
The latest update from the Princess of Wales’ treatment is that she has ‘recently turned a corner’ and will be ‘back to work’ when she’s ready.
Speaking about how Kate coped with chemotherapy treatment, Katie Nicholl, who is Vanity Fair’s royal expert, told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show: ‘I think it was a struggle initially and I was very, very relieved to hear from actually more than one source that she has recently turned a corner.’
The royal correspondent continued: ‘She will be back to work… It will just be in her time and she’s ready and crucially when she gets the sign off from her medical team.’

Meanwhile, Kate also requested privacy twice in her video statement on March 22, showing how important it is to her, saying: ‘We been doing everything we can to process this privately for the sake of our young family.’
Kate continued: ‘We hope that you’ll understand that as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back but now I must focus on my recovery.’
For now, we wish Kate a speedy recovery.
