William has been spending more time with his wife during the royal break.
In sickness and in health, Prince William and Kate Middleton are sticking together, and this difficult time has only brought the couple closer. William has reportedly been a “rock” for Middleton as she undergoes preventive cancer treatment, and now that the royals have canceled most engagements until July 4 due to a general election, the couple has had even more time to spend together.
A source told Us Weekly that the brief hiatus has allowed William to be at home with Kate, bringing them “closer than ever.”
“The announcement that the royals won’t be able to work as much has been unexpected, but it will allow Kate and William to spend more time together,” the insider said. “They’ve been reconnecting and are closer than ever.”
Middleton has been feeling better, as well, and has used her newfound energy to spend more time with their three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. “Kate’s feeling strong enough to be very involved with the kids,” the source added. “She’s been an active parent.”
When it comes to returning to her royal duties, things are still up in the air for Kate. Royal reporter Katie Nicholl recently shared that Middleton has “turned a corner” in her recovery and will definitely be returning to work. However, other sources suggest that Middleton won’t be back on the job until the fall, and only if she’s back to feeling 100%, per reporter Richard Eden via the Daily Mail. When she does come back to work, her role could look entirely different.
A source told Us Weekly that Middleton and her team are “reevaluating what she’s going to be able to take on when she comes back.”
“She may never come back in the role that people saw her in before,” the insider explained.
