Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s once rocky relationship with the British Royal Family seems to be thawing, with whispers of newfound “closeness” to certain royals. Per reports, they are strengthening their ties with cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. The two princesses are said to feel like “virtual outcasts” within the royal family, similar to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. This development comes amid Kate Middleton’s absence from royal duties due to her ongoing cancer treatment.
‘For William and Kate an alliance…is a huge worry’
Royal author Tom Quinn revealed to the Mirror that the alliance between Harry, Markle, Beatrice, and Eugenie is causing “unease” among Prince William and his wife Middleton. Quinn stated, “For William and Kate an alliance between Harry and Meghan and Beatrice and Eugenie is a huge worry.” He further explained that the Prince and Princess of Wales are aware of the commonalities shared by these four royals.
Middleton’s absence exacerbated royal concerns
Middleton’s ongoing cancer treatment and subsequent absence from royal duties have reportedly heightened these concerns. Quinn added, “The situation is made worse by the fact that the senior royals’ main asset – Kate herself – is effectively out of action while she continues her treatment for cancer.” Meanwhile, Prince William is managing all responsibilities alone as King Charles III also undergoes cancer treatment.
Sussexes’s unofficial royal tour to Nigeria further raised eyebrows
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently conducted an unofficial royal tour in Nigeria. The tour was successful but reportedly caused more damage to the royal family’s image. Quinn expressed concern about this development, stating, “The worry for the senior royals is that after their tour of Nigeria, Harry and Meghan will seize the initiative, reveling in positive publicity while Kate is forced to stay in the background.”
Meanwhile, princesses maintained contact with Sussexes post-move
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, have kept in touch with Harry and Markle since their move to the US in 2020. Quinn revealed, “Although Harry and Meghan have little sympathy for Prince Andrew, they’ve kept in regular contact with Beatrice and Eugenie who have always been free of any associations with Meghan’s angry, bitter time in the UK.” Notably, Eugenie visited Harry in 2022 where they were seen together at the Super Bowl.
