British royal family news reveals that Meghan Markle seems to be raiding the late Princess Diana’s jewelry box and people are noticing. In particular she showed up for the Nigerian Riviera Tour dripping in gemstones belonging to her late mother-in-law Diana.
Meghan never even met Diana, who died aged 37 in 1997, but she’s flaunting her baubles like the crown jewels and that isn’t sitting well with some folks.
What got people talking was the diamond cross Meghan proudly wore during a meet and greet for military families in Abuja. Here’s what to know.
Royal Family News – Meghan Raiding Diana’s Jewelry Box
Page Six reports that the sparkling necklace is from Diana’s private collection and was gifted to Meghan by her second husband Prince Harry.
As source spilled: “Diana remains a prominent force in Harry’s life and as a result, Meghan’s. So much of his work is inspired by his mum, and it’s evident how much she still means to him.”
Royal Family News – Diana’s Jewelry Being Spread Around
Meghan has worn other pieces that once belonged to Diana and the meaning “isn’t lost” on the Z-lister.
The crosses’ origin story is called into question with one source claiming “I find it hard to believe that she’s been sitting on this necklace for 5 years” and the outlet stating that Diana was never pictured wearing the cross.
The insider states “I didn’t recognize this at all. In fact, Diana was ever the professional and she generally avoided wearing religious motifs of any kind because they have the potential to offend people, so she would never usually wear such a thing.”
Royal Family News – Is Meghan Fibbing Again?
Casting further mystery on Meghan’s claims, “the full extent of Diana’s gem collection remains as mysterious as the origin’s of Meghan’s new neckwear.” That’s because “Her executors changed parts of the will” a fact exposed in a 2022 court case in which butler Paul Burrell was accused of stealing hundreds of items from Diana’s apartment.
Diana’s most iconic gem is her blue sapphire engagement ring surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds. Princess Catherine has worn it since the day she and Prince William announced their engagement in 2010.
At the time William said “I thought it was quite nice because obviously, she’s not going to be around to share any of the fun and excitement of it all — this was my way of keeping her close to it all.”
Kate described the ring as “very, very special” and said “I just hope I look after it.”
For her part, Meghan wore Princess Diana’s aquamarine ring to her wedding reception in 2018 and she wore Diana’s tennis bracelet during her trashy 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Her spokesperson stated that Meghan purposely “wanted to wear the bracelet to have [Harry’s] mother there with them during the interview.”
