Prince Harry returned to the United Kingdom solo this Tuesday to participate in the Thanksgiving ceremony of the Invictus Games, a competition he created in 2014 with the purpose of supporting and motivating the practice of sports in veterans and war wounded.
Practically upon landing, Prince Harry got underway with events related to the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games. The mass was attended only by the Duke of Sussex unaccompanied by any member of the British Royal Family.
At virtually the same time, the Windsors gathered at Buckingham to celebrate the first garden party of the season. King Charles III and Queen Camilla, along with other family members opened the doors of the palace, the official seat of the British monarchy since 1837.
Prince Harry’s express visit to the United Kingdom in February to his father immediately after learning of his cancer diagnosis was interpreted as a step towards reconciliation. However, on this occasion, the Duke of Sussex did not meet with Charles III nor does he plan to do so before leaving.
The Duke of Sussex’s office issued a statement confirming that he would not meet with him due to Her Majesty’s busy schedule.
He is also not scheduled to meet with the Prince and Princess of Wales. While the heir to the throne will travel to Cornwall this Thursday to continue his schedule, Kate Middleton continues to focus on her recovery and preventative chemotherapy treatment, which she began in February following abdominal surgery in January. She is retired from public life to focus on her health and her three children.
