Prince Harry ‘forced to stay in hotel’ when he returns to UK

Prince Harry has reportedly been told he must stay in a hotel during his upcoming UK visit, as his request to stay at Windsor Castle was declined by the Royal Family. The Duke of Sussex is set to fly to London to deliver a speech at St Paul’s Cathedral on May 8, marking the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, which he founded in 2014 while still an active Royal.

However, his return to the UK will not be met with support from senior Royals, who are not expected to attend the Invictus Games event. Harry and his wife Meghan Markle no longer have a UK residence after being asked to leave Frogmore Cottage by King Charles in the summer of 2023.

This means that Harry has had to resort to staying in hotels during his recent visits to the UK, rather than residing within the grounds of Windsor Castle. His request to stay at the castle in September 2023 was denied due to insufficient notice.

Since then, the Duke has not stayed at any Royal residences and is expected to once again book a hotel for his brief visit next week. Meghan will not be joining him on this trip, as she will be staying in the US to prepare for their unofficial Royal tour of Nigeria, scheduled shortly after the Invictus event in London.

Former Suits actress’s presence at the ceremony was in massive uncertainity until it was confirmed last week that she had decided to stay in America. Her absence might leave Prince Harry faced with pangs of loneliness as he struggles concurrently with a crumbling relationship with the Royals, speculates an expert, reports the Mirror.

Mail on Sunday’s Royal Editor Charlotte Griffiths shared her thoughts recently with GB News shedding light on how having his immediate family present particularly for an event marked at St Paul’s Cathedral – the location where the marriage ceremony of his parents took place would have been hugely comforting for Harry.

Griffiths described the event as being “very sombre” and mentioned: “It’s a really important part of Harry’s soul, and the kind of thing he’d want his wife, maybe even his kids by his side for.”

She went on saying: “Meghan is leaving him there alone, and I just think he’s going to cast a really lonely portrait of a man without his friends around him, without his family and without senior members of the Royal Family. And no wife there with him as well.”
