Meghan staying away from UK is the ‘kindest thing’, royal expert claims

Amid calls for reconciliation between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the Royal Family from many royal experts, one has claimed that the ‘kindest thing’ would be for the Duchess of Sussex to stay away from the UK for the time being

In the sunshine of Florida, Prince Harry participated in a charity polo match for Sentebale, and Meghan cheered him on in the three-team tournament, glowing in a stunning ivory-silk dress. The couple shared a kiss as Meghan presented her husband with the winning trophy and Harry also took part in a panel discussion about his charity’s work whilst in Florida.

The Duke of Sussex co-founded the charity back in 2006, and it’s one of the passion projects he has continued to support since stepping back as a working royal in 2020. Although Harry handed back his royal patronages in 2021, he has never wavered in his work on his own initiatives, like Sentebale and the Invictus Games. The Duke is reportedly due to return to the UK in a few weeks for a special service marking 10 years of Invictus, and some royal experts have claimed that this may also present an opportunity for some family time, as King Charles continues his cancer treatment.

One expert – a former royal butler – even concluded that it was “very likely” that Harry may reunite with his elder brother Prince William whilst he is back in the UK to mark the anniversary of Invictus. There have also been calls from multiple experts for Harry to temporarily return to help ease the burden of royal duties on his brother – who is also trying to balance his family responsibilities alongside engagements whilst his wife Kate undergoes a course of preventative chemotherapy.

It hasn’t been confirmed yet, according to reports, whether Meghan will join Harry for the occasion, and the Duke of Sussex has repeatedly made it clear that without police security, he doesn’t feel safe bringing his wife and young children back to the UK.

However, one expert believes that for the time being, when Harry returns, he should do so solo. Jennie Bond – formerly the BBC’s royal correspondent – explained to OK Magazine, ” I think this is pretty unlikely that Meghan will join him at the service given Harry’s concerns about safety and the ongoing family tensions,” the expert explained.

“I don’t think her presence would make any reconciliation moves easier. I think she would — rightly— be nervous about the reception she might get from any public gathered outside the cathedral. This is not the time for either the King or the Princess to have to deal with family rifts. They have too much on their plates at the moment. So Meghan’s kindest gesture would be to send her very best wishes, but to stay away for now.”
